I’m just winging it, I got a logo - so I used it 🙂
Travelynotes is pretty, but she has too much white space on the front page also needs half the amount of real estate, so she should remove at leastthe lower third of the page.
https://travelynotes.squarespace.com/blog-japan/guide-to-kyotos-gion-matsuri-one-of-japans-biggest-summer-festivals too many images should be using a gallery or photoswipe in 2 separate places. So you can defeat her in an SEO war easy. Don’t know why I’m critiquing the site - overall it’s lovely.
IF you ever go the blog route, I’d focus on where you live and on the mundane, not scatter shot every state/city/town, but a narrow focus unlike travelynotes or the other site you sent me a while ago. Basics take some pic when you go to the shops - how to use an oyster card (dunno Japans name for it 😛) Unless you are travelling shed loads, but then travel, enjoy it and fuck blogging…
I setup the mailing list tomorrow should only take 30 minutes or so for a basic setup, though never done it in Wordpress before so that’s a guess but will use a plugin, I’m not adding code to anything it’s all plugins so you’ll be able to resolve problems easier (restore from backup without fear etc.). But the email list will be limited to the email limit. So a safe limit without utilising a forum would be 5,000 subscribers on a drip of 150 emails per hour anymore and would have to look at either a dedicated email server ($20 a month) or transactional provider $200+ a month. Long, long way off and a lot of work to get those figures - as in hours almost everyday. BUT you’re subscribers/view ratio is excellent and some outperform so maybe not terribly hard??
